GUEST SPEAKER
Monty Gibson
Eagle Scout, strength and conditioning coach for the Cleveland Browns
Monty discovered his passion for weight training in high school, a pursuit he shared with his father, Joe Gibson. This interest grew into a distinguished 18-year career at Texas A&M University, where Monty worked with the football team and oversaw strength and conditioning for track and field sprinters, equestrian athletes, and men’s tennis players. Five years ago, he brought his expertise to the NFL as an assistant strength and conditioning coach with the Cleveland Browns.
Monty’s personal life has been profoundly shaped by Scouting, especially through his father’s dedication to youth development. His father, Joe Gibson, a Scout leader and San Angelo police chief, ensured countless Scouts experienced the transformative adventure of Philmont Scout Ranch.
Monty’s first trip to Philmont in 1985 with his father, then an assistant Scoutmaster, left a lasting impression. Joe later became a Scoutmaster, leading Monty’s brothers and other Scouts on the same journey. “Daddy was my hero,” Monty reflects. “The camaraderie, the sense of accomplishment—it’s something he valued deeply and wanted to share with as many kids as possible.”
“The Scouting trail has led me on most of my big adventures in life,” Gibson said.
Be Prepared. More than a motto.
At Scouting America, Great Rivers Council, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all. We strive to build productive relationships and make a positive impact with all of our pursuits.

Camperships
Make camp happen for all Scouts tomorrow
We don't want a family's financial situation keep Scouts from attending camp, the campership program needs to be fully funded to meet the need this summer.

Inspiring future Inventors and Entreprenuers

Invention Scouts teach new skills and talents to help a Scout become an Inventor. We provide access to high-tech equipment, specially selected Learning Skills, and an awesome program with lots of challenges and fun competitions.

ONLINE DONATION
More than 2,500 youth in Central and Northeast Missouri take part in the once-in-a-lifetime adventures and character building programs that can only be found in Scouting. In doing so, they discover skills they never knew they had and develop into the leaders we’ll need in the years to come. Scouting makes a dramatic, positive impact on our youth, our families, and our communities, but it won’t happen without your support.
